Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • I am a Person-Centred Counsellor, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you

    can explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. Person-centred therapy focuses on self-growth, self-acceptance, and helping you find your own solutions.


    I also use a Pluralistic Approach, drawing on different therapeutic models to tailor sessions to your needs, including:

    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): A practical, solution-focused approach that helps identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours.

    • Psychodynamic Counselling: A deeper approach that explores past experiences and unconscious patterns that may be influencing your present life.

    This flexible approach ensures that therapy is adapted to what works best for you.

  • While I support individuals and couples through a wide range of challenges, I do not work with complex cases. If I feel your needs are outside of my professional scope, I will signpost you to a specialist who can better support you.
    4. What if I am experiencing suicidal thoughts?

  • If you have experienced suicidal thoughts within the last two weeks, my counselling style may not be suitable for you at this time. If you are in crisis, please seek immediate help by contacting:

    • Samaritans – Call 116 123 (available 24/7)

    • 999 – If you are in immediate danger or need urgent medical assistance

    Your safety is the priority, and these organisations are best placed to offer immediate support.

    • Standard sessions (1 hour): £50

    • Initial consultation (45 minutes): £35

  • Each session lasts 1 hour. While many people find 6 to 8 sessions beneficial, the number of sessions depends on your personal needs and therapeutic process. You can continue counselling for as long as it is helpful for you.

    • If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice.

    • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may still be charged at the full session rate.

    • If you wish to discontinue ongoing sessions, please give at least 24 hours’ notice before your next planned appointment.

  • Yes, confidentiality is a core part of my practice. I am a registered member of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and follow strict confidentiality guidelines. The only exceptions are if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if legally required.

  • You can book a session by contacting me via phone or email. We will arrange a suitable time for your initial consultation or ongoing sessions.

  • The initial consultation lasts 45 minutes (£35) and provides an opportunity to:

    • Discuss what brings you to counselling

    • Explore what you’d like to achieve

    • Determine if we are the right fit to work together
